đŸ—“ïž April 22 & May 20 – PTA General Meetings & Votes

đŸ—“ïž April 22 & May 20 – PTA General Meetings & Votes

We have two important general membership meetings coming up, and your participation is needed:

📌 April 22 – Nominating Committee Vote
This meeting will include a formal vote to elect our Nominating Committee. As required by PTA bylaws, this committee will help finalize the proposed board slate.
✅ Please join virtually or in person—we need at least 15 participants for the vote to count.
🕘 The vote will take place right at the beginning of the meeting.

📌 May 20 – 2025–2026 Board Slate Vote
At our May 20 evening virtual meeting, we’ll vote on the proposed PTA Board for the 2025–2026 school year, as recommended by the Nominating Committee.

Thank you for helping us keep things moving forward and for supporting OGE PTA!

Proposed PTA Board Slate for 2025–2026

In accordance with the Oak Grove Elementary PTA Bylaws, we are presenting the proposed slate for the 2025–2026 PTA Board. This slate will be voted on during the General Membership Meeting scheduled for May 20, 2025 PM.

Co-Presidents

Fanchon Tabb | Liat Stevant
 president@ogepta.com | admin@ogepta.com

Secretary
 To be determined

Treasurer
 Tina Groff

VP Communications
 To be determined

VP of Community Outreach
 Shaili Shah

VP Family Events
 Katie Alioto

VP Fundraising
 Jillian Barksdale

VP Room Parents
 Luisa Cervantes

Per our bylaws, this proposed slate is being shared in advance to allow for community review before the upcoming vote. We encourage all members to participate in the May 20 meeting to cast their votes and support our PTA's continued success.

As the OGE PTA gets ready for next year 2025-2026, we’re working to fill our board slate and are actively looking for a VP of Communication!

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee PTA Communications: Social Media & Website
You’ll pass along updates and content to our current social media and website managers (no need to manage those accounts yourself).

  • Put together the Oak Tree Newsletter
     (Take a look here: www.ogepta.com/newsletter)

We use Membership Toolkit, a basic platform with limited features—but once you get the hang of it, it’s easy enough to manage.
Most weeks, you’ll receive blurbs and graphics already made—it’s more like solving a puzzle: just place everything in the right spot!
If you’re someone who enjoys organizing content, light design work, or just making sure people stay informed—this could be a great fit for you.

The newsletter goes out nearly every week and takes about 1-2 hours, whenever it fits your schedule. And don’t worry—if you ever need help or a break, we’ve got your back.

📅 Volunteer by 5/5 to be voted in at the May meeting. After that, the next vote will be in August.

📣 DeKalb County Student Assignment Update – What Parents Should Know

The Student Assignment Committees are working on plans to improve how our schools are used and supported.

✅ In March, they focused on “right-sizing” the district—looking at building use, enrollment trends, and future needs.
✅ They’re creating guiding principles to help shape decisions about:

đŸ« School buildings (March)

📚 Academic programs (coming in April)

đŸ—ș School boundaries (planned for May)

Top priorities for buildings will be shared soon on the SAP website. Stay tuned—this work shapes the future of our schools!

đŸŽ„ Check out the video link — featuring one of our own parent volunteers! Thank you for representing our school.
